Modern Method
Any teapot or mug with infuser. Ideally glass teapot for a visual treat.
Water Temperature: 80° C (176° F).
Brewing Time: 3-5 minutes.
Steps:
- Break off a small piece of tea from the cake. Utilizing tea pick can simplify the process.
- Steep the tea leaves in hot water.
- Enjoy the delicate flavor.
Traditional Method (Gongfu)
Vessel - Clay or porcelain teapot (gaiwan)
Water Temperature: 70-80°C (158-176°F).
Brewing Time: 30-60 seconds.
Steps:
- Warm the gaiwan and cups.
- Break off a small piece of tea from the cake. Utilizing tea pick can simplify the process.
- Brew and pour into cups or fair pitcher.
- With every extra steeping, extend the brewing time by 10 to 15 seconds.
Adjust the amount of dry leaves and steeping time to your personal preference.
